RV, Bus & Caravan Power Solutions

Whether you're towing a van, driving an RV, or operating a bus, weight limits matter. Our lithium battery power and charging solutions charge faster, weigh roughly one-third of traditional battery setups, and deliver more usable power.

Why Lithium for Caravans?

The lithium advantage in a caravan or RV is immediate and significant:

  • Weight — Save 40–80kg over equivalent AGM battery setups. More payload for the things that matter.
  • Faster charging — Charge from solar, a DC-DC charger, or shore power significantly faster than lead-acid. More stored energy by the time you reach camp.
  • Greater usable capacity — Run your fridge, lighting, and appliances longer. 100% of rated capacity is available, versus 50% for lead-acid.
  • No maintenance — No watering, no checking electrolyte levels, no equalisation charges.

Inverter Integration

Most touring setups benefit from a 12V or 24V inverter/charger (Victron MultiPlus-II range) allowing you to run 240V appliances from your battery bank and charge from 240V shore power when available. We stock the full MultiPlus-II range and can design a complete system around your needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size lithium battery does a typical caravan need?

For a standard caravan with a 60L compressor fridge, LED lighting, and device charging: 100Ah is the starting point for weekend trips, 200Ah for longer touring. Add solar (200W minimum) and you're largely self-sufficient year-round in Australian conditions.

Can I replace my AGM batteries with lithium without any other changes?

You'll need to check your charger and solar controller. Both must support LiFePO4 charge profiles (absorption 14.2V, float 13.5V). Many modern MPPT controllers and AC chargers support this. Avoid battery-to-battery direct alternator connection — install a DC-DC charger.

Do lithium batteries require a battery management system (BMS)?

Yes — and all Revolution Power batteries include one built in. The BMS handles cell balancing, over-charge protection, over-discharge protection, temperature protection, and short-circuit protection automatically.

How do I know my battery's state of charge?

Voltage is a rough indicator but not accurate with lithium. For accurate state of charge, install a Victron BMV-712 shunt-based battery monitor. It tracks actual amp-hours in and out and displays true percentage remaining.

Can I connect two lithium batteries in parallel for more capacity?

Yes. Revolution Power batteries can be connected in parallel to increase total capacity. Ensure both batteries are the same model and fully charged before paralleling. Use identical cable lengths from each battery to the distribution point to balance current flow.
